Description
Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur is the birthplace of Thuringian porcelain. Here, in 1760, Georg Heinrich Macheleid independently developed porcelain production, laying the foundation for an important tradition.
The porcelain production started modestly in Sitzendorf before moving to Volkstedt in 1762. The manufactory experienced a new heyday in 1850 when Wilhelm Liebmann revived local production.
Visitors can discover fascinating insights into the history and craftsmanship of porcelain – a real highlight for everyone passionate about art and culture!
