Description

Stadtmuseum Damme takes you on an exciting journey through the region’s history – housed in the former Damme train station. Here you’ll explore four main themes of the town’s history as well as regularly changing special exhibitions.

One exhibit shows the development of Damme’s carnival with a special focus on the carnival society from 1614. Another highlight is the nearly 600-year-long dispute over the rule between the prince-bishops of Münster and Osnabrück.

You can discover the early settlement and prehistoric times in the Damme area and learn a lot about the significant iron mining from 1939 to 1967, which strongly shaped the post-war economy. The changing special exhibitions are displayed in the former freight hall.

Children up to 14 years visit the museum free of charge – perfect for a family outing! 🎉
