Stadtpark Wieseckaue

Description
Recreation and exercise in Gießen's largest green space right in the city center. Take a walk, swing, play on the playground, play boule, or enjoy a drink at the beach bar – Stadtpark Wieseckaue has plenty to offer for both young and old.
Stadtpark Wieseckaue, whose origins date back to the 1930s, has a lot to explore. The science gardens invite you to stroll and discover. The Quellgarten (a classic sunken garden) is a sight to behold. It’s made even more fascinating by the elevation difference between Ringallee and the Neuer Teich. The waterway is lined with plantings of perennials and grasses. From spring through autumn, this creates an exciting and dynamic play of colors. The heart of the park is the 6.4-hectare Neuer Teich. Water and shoreline areas in the park have always held a strong attraction for people. The shore zones, often densely lined with reeds, are important refuge and breeding areas for rare animal species. The meadows and play islands provide lots of space for playing and romping around. On these four play islands, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the explorer Alexander von Humboldt. Fun and action are offered by the skate park, the sky swings, or a game of boule. The leisure facilities in the park include space for tennis, soccer, or basketball. Right next door is a Fitness-HotSpot pole park, offering training opportunities on three levels of difficulty. During the summer half of the year, the beach bar by the Neuer Teich invites you to leave the daily routine behind with a cool drink and perfectly round off your visit to Stadtpark Wieseckaue. Stadtpark Wieseckaue is also a venue for various events.
