Stadtweiher Baumholder

Since its creation, the Stadtweiher, also known as the heart of the town of Baumholder, has been highly valued by the public as a green retreat within the city and is especially popular in the summer.

This natural swimming pond, which attracts not only locals, offers convenient relaxation and entertainment for the whole family. In summer, the pond terraces, the newly redesigned beach area, and the spacious play and activity zone in front of the beach area invite you to relax and enjoy.

The pond is ideal for our little guests, who can have fun in and around the water, for example at the artificial sandy beach and the modern playground.

Use of the Stadtweiher is free all year round. Lifeguards are provided by the town of Baumholder and the DLRG.

Within minutes you can reach the old town with shops, an ice cream parlor, and restaurants. There are plenty of free parking spaces near the pond. Sunbathing lawns, a kiosk, and sanitary facilities are available to visitors. Especially great for children are the artificial sandy beach and a large sandbox; ball games (e.g. volleyball) can be played on the lawn. In the middle of the pond is a giant trampoline with a catapult and slide, which is very popular with teenage swimmers.

Stand-up paddling is allowed on the pond. If you don’t own a SUP, you can rent one of three SUP boards from the DLRG for a small fee.

From mid-July 2024, the club will also offer two water walking balls for rent. You step inside these large balls and can then walk—or roll—across the water without getting wet.

Five new motorhome parking spaces with electricity and water supply are available on the square in front of the pond.

During summer, the local DLRG club organizes various activities and festivals around the pond.

In cold winters, when the pond freezes over, it is a popular spot for ice skating.

Dogs are allowed on the open sunbathing lawn.

Along the path around the pond, dog owners will find plenty of trash bins and dog waste bag dispensers to keep the area clean. Please keep dogs on a leash.
