Beach fun in Utersum
A vacation without the beach, sandcastles, and a refreshing swim in the sea? Hard to imagine! In Utersum on the North Sea island of Föhr, you'll find a wide, fine sandy beach where you can relax, soak up the sun, or let off steam with some activity. Föhr lies in the middle of the Wadden Sea National Park on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast. The charming village of Utersum is located on the opposite side of the island, viewed from the harbor. Here the 15-kilometer-long sandy beach ends and flows into the dike that stretches toward the north.
A view into the distance
On clear days, the northern tip of the island Amrum and the southern tip of Sylt seem within reach – a view that captivates. But the real highlight waits in the evening: the sunsets in Utersum are spectacular. Every evening, visitors gather on the dike to watch the sun sink into the sea in blazing red.
Family beach
The shallow water entry offers perfect conditions for children to splash and dig. Thanks to a tidal creek directly off the coast, you can even swim here at low tide. At the same time, the exposed mudflats invite you to explore the fascinating animal and plant life up close. Of course, building sandcastles is a must! Safety is ensured by the DLRG lifeguard service, and beach chairs can be conveniently rented at the tourist information at the beach access. There is also barrier-free access for wheelchair users and strollers.
Active on the beach
Those who love to be active will find plenty to enjoy in Utersum. Whether beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach gymnastics, or surfing lessons – there are many opportunities to make your vacation active and varied.
