Description

The Frankenthaler Strandbad stretches across a 168,000 sqm area featuring old trees, a bathing lake, and several swimming pools. It is one of the most beautiful and largest recreational areas in the Rhine-Neckar region. Every summer, around 250,000 sun worshippers and relaxation seekers enjoy the idyllic park area with a small sandy beach and large lawns. From the toddler area to the sporty 50-meter pool, the Strandbad promises refreshing relief to all visitors on hot summer days.

Even outside the swimming season, the paved circular path invites relaxing walks or energetic runs in the fresh air. Along the path, the tree nature trail offers plenty of interesting information for nature enthusiasts. On the barefoot trail, various natural materials like pine cones, moss, mulch, and stones can be felt with your feet. During the autumn and winter months, access to the Strandbad is free of charge.

Did you know?

The excavation of clay for the former Paul Schmidt & Son brickworks, which had to shut down at the end of World War I, created two small lakes on the site, known as the "Schmidt's ponds." These were further excavated and filled in from 1930 onwards. The outdoor pool officially opened in 1933.
