Description

The animals at Tierpark Chemnitz act as ambassadors for their wild counterparts and help introduce people to the planet’s biodiversity, nature conservation, and species protection. A special feature of Tierpark Chemnitz is its one-of-a-kind vivarium in Europe, housing nearly 80 species of amphibians.

Many other zoological rarities and impressive animals live in the park, including Somali wild donkeys, mountain zebras, Amur cats, and Pallas’s cats.

Other attractions include the tropical house with a free-flight hall, dwarf hippos, sloths, and meerkats; tigers and leopards, spotted hyenas, the clawed monkey house, pink flamingos, the South American exhibit, and of course the petting zoo.

In summer 2026, the new experience farm "Bauernhoferlebnis 1883" was opened. Visitors gain insight into the life and work of the region’s rural population from over 100 years ago. Historic breeds of farm animals, authentic agricultural tools, and an accompanying exhibition vividly illustrate the development of rural life.
