Description

The Von-Bernus-Park, locally also known simply as Bernuspark, is a 1.5-hectare public green space in the Bockenheim district of Frankfurt. The park was created in 1771 on the edge of what was then the independent village of Bockenheim as a private park. This was initiated by Princess Henriette Amalie of Anhalt-Dessau, who purchased a country estate with a manor house there and had it expanded into a small castle to serve as her residence. The buildings on the property were largely destroyed by aerial bombs during World War II air raids on Frankfurt am Main and were never rebuilt.
