Wasserburg Gebhardshagen

Description
The noble lords of Hagen have been documented since 1129, and the castle is mentioned around 1186 as castro, quod appellatur Haghen (castle called Hagen). Located on the important military and trade route between Minden and Halberstadt, the castle served as the family seat of the von Hagen family until about 1280. In the 16th century, Wasserburg Gebhardshagen became an administrative seat. During the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), the castle and the village of Gebhardshagen suffered damage. Afterwards, the castle was managed more as an estate in line with the times. More information can be found in the Monument Atlas of Lower Saxony.
