Wasserschloss Mitwitz
Description
Wasserschloss Mitwitz fascinates children with its fairy-tale architecture 🏰: a dramatic Renaissance moated castle – three-story, four-winged, with four corner towers and a moat.
In the castle there is an ecological education center and a beekeeping school with a small beekeeping museum – a hands-on learning attraction for children. Guided castle tours are offered seasonally (May – September), ideal for family visits.
The inner courtyard features the Neptunbrunnen from the 18th century and a copy of the sandstone figure 'Der fränkische Ritter'. In historic rooms original furnishings from the 16th to the 20th century are on display, and the mirror room contains a picture cycle from 1755. The castle was also used as a setting for the fairy-tale film 'Die drei Federn' – this sparks children's imagination.
