Description

A visit to the Wildgehege Battenberg (Eder)-Dodenau, which spans over 10 hectares, is worthwhile for anyone wanting to experience local nature up close. Observe fallow deer, red deer, and mouflon at close range.

A trip to the wildlife park is especially rewarding for families with children. The animals are not shy and are happy to be fed. Food bags are available for purchase at the entrance area. A children's playground is located nearby, and a barbecue shelter invites you to rest and linger.

A nature trail starts right at the barbecue shelter. It complements the Wildgehege Dodenau, runs through the Jeckenfuß area partly along the enclosure fence, and offers insight into the local flora and fauna. Thirteen different informational boards invite you to take a hike along a circular path. Join Dodi and Jäcki, the two mascots of the wildlife park, on a discovery tour.

Also close to the barbecue shelter is a charcoal burner’s trail, which explains a lot about charcoal burning at five stations. There is also a small demonstration charcoal kiln.

Guided tours can also be offered upon request.
