Description

Wildpark Schmidt, nestled in the picturesque Eifel region, offers an authentic nature experience right at the Eifel National Park. The park in Nideggen-Schmidt is home to a variety of native wildlife as well as tame farm and domestic animals. Visitors can start at the large adventure playground and explore the shorter farm trail, featuring cattle, donkeys, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, and poultry. This route is especially suitable for people with limited mobility and families with young children. The wheelchair-accessible falconry showcases birds of prey like the desert buzzard Maria and the eagle owl Klaus. The regular hiking trail, stroller-friendly and about 5 km long, leads through spacious enclosures that emphasize species-appropriate husbandry. Red deer, fallow deer, sika deer, mouflons, and llamas can be seen year-round and fed. The Café & Bistro offers coffee specialties, homemade cakes, and savory dishes such as venison ham and wild salami. Vegetarian options round out the culinary variety.
