Willkomm-Höft in Wedel

Experience the maritime atmosphere up close at the Willkomm-Höft ship greeting facility! Since 1952, large ships have been welcomed or bid farewell here with their national anthem and a personal message in their native language. As the impressive ocean giants pass by, the Elbe echoes: "Welcome to Hamburg, we are pleased to welcome you to the Port of Hamburg."

At the 40-meter-high flagpole, the flags are dipped – the international sign for "safe travels." Around 50 ships pass this unique greeting station daily, making it one of a kind worldwide. Smaller vessels are greeted by dipping the flag.

Make yourself comfortable in the "Schulauer Fährhaus" restaurant, enjoy delicious food with a view of the Elbe, and listen to the anthems of the world. An unforgettable experience for everyone who loves the magic of the great wide world!
