Description

Kings from the Orient – Farewell tour of the 2026 program

With the Children’s and Youth Choir of Johann-Walter-Kurrende Kahla

A cheerful and atmospheric Christmas journey from the Appalachians (A) to Sugarloaf Mountain (Z) with a stopover at the Eiffel Tower

Sing along and join in, and sometimes be very quiet

With musicians from the group L‘ART DE PASSAGE and Therese Thomaschke (shadow play)

Dressed in magical oriental style, with embroidered caps and decorated belts, loose trousers and standing collar shirts, the musicians (the kings) come onto the stage.

Dressed in black and barefoot, the storyteller sits at the edge of the stage in front of a large shadow play. Gerhard Schöne and his musicians tell, in (Christmas) children’s songs from around the world—from the Appalachians, over the Eiffel Tower to Sugarloaf—about the great celebration of families worldwide. It’s lively and joyful, and singing and participation are expressly encouraged. The audience falls completely silent, however, when the Christmas story unfolds as a shadow play on a large

screen.

Gerhard Schöne loves transformation. Yet he stays true to himself and his audience. His Christmas program for families is on tour for the last time. It is certainly one of the most beautiful experiences available here for children and parents, as well as for sharp godmothers and cool cousins.

Lineup:

With L‘art de passage: Stefan Kling (piano), Rainer Schwander (hammered dulcimer, saxophone, flute), Rolo Rodriguez (drums, percussion), and Therese Thomaschke (puppet and shadow play) Direction: Therese Thomaschke
