Description
The Immerather Maar is one of the lesser-known maars and is tucked away just outside the village. As with other maars, the lake was drained by deepening the small stream in 1750 in order to use the fertile maar soil for agriculture. During World War I, the drainage was no longer maintained, so the lake filled with water again.
