Description

The Anröchter Steinmuseum offers exciting insights into the geology, mining, and processing of Anröchter stone as well as its social and economic history – perfect for families who want to combine learning with fun.

A special highlight is the original dinosaur eggs, about 70 million years old from the late Cretaceous period, on display since 2018. They come from an important collection and are certified by the Natural History Museum Vienna – a fascinating experience for young and old alike. 🦕

The museum also impresses with the world’s oldest known skeleton of a bulldog fish (Xiphactinus), a huge fossil fish up to five meters long, discovered locally and exhibited for the first time in Central Europe.

Alongside the exhibits, there are intriguing stories from local history, such as the "Anröchter Bomb Planter" or the "Association of Quarry Owners to Promote Sobriety Among Workers." For extra fun, the Anröchter Heimat Memory Game brings historical themes to life in a playful way.

The highlight for families: a museum visit can be perfectly combined with a trip to the nearby quarry – turning on-site learning into a real adventure. Admission is free and the exhibition is wheelchair accessible.
