Description
The Archäologische Ausstellung in der Schule takes you on a journey through around 80,000 years of human history – from the Neanderthals to the Roman era.
You can discover original Neanderthal tools, including hand axes and tool fragments, as well as teeth of a mammoth that lived as prey during the Ice Age. The geological and paleontological exhibits are also fascinating, featuring fossil corals and shells from the Jurassic (about 150 million years old) and petrified wood from the Tertiary (about 15 million years old) found around Nassenfels.
The largest part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Roman Vicus Scuttarensis with original finds, replicas, and information panels illustrating daily life: Roman red pottery, tools, coins, jewelry, and military equipment. Additionally, exhibits showcase technologies from various eras – from Neolithic agriculture through early Bronze Age tools to Celtic iron smelting around 300 BC.
The exhibition also includes archaeological finds related to medieval and modern history, including discoveries from the Nikolaus Chapel and the castle, as well as models of the former water castle of Nassenfels.
Suitable for children aged 6 and up – there is plenty to learn and marvel at here! 🏺
