Description

The Franz-Liszt-Museum der Stadt Bayreuth is located in the house where the pianist, conductor, and composer Franz Liszt died, right next to the Wahnfried house where Liszt's daughter Cosima Wagner lived with her children.

The collection includes around 300 paintings, manuscripts, and prints originally from the Munich pianist Ernst Burger, and has been displayed since 1988 along with loans from the Richard Wagner Foundation.

Visitors can deeply immerse themselves in the life of the musical prodigy and experience his story up close.

There is also an online collection that provides access to images, 3D objects, artist information, and literature references about the exhibits anytime and anywhere in the world.

Next to the museum, you'll find the Liszt Mausoleum in the Bayreuth city cemetery and the original 1873 piano on which Liszt himself gave concerts – concerts are still regularly held on this instrument today.

Themed city tours invite individuals and groups to explore Bayreuth following Franz Liszt’s footsteps and learn more about his influence on the city.
