Friedensfahrtmuseum Kleinmühlingen: Im Geiste des Radsports

Description
## Short Description
Racing bikes, badges, autographs, and winner's jerseys – in Kleinmühlingen, you enter a museum dedicated to a sporting legend.
## Description
Just a few years after its first event in 1948, the "Internationale Friedensfahrt" was almost as legendary as the Tour de France. To this day, many cycling fans nostalgically remember the great times of Uwe Ampler, Ryszard Szurkowski, and Gustav „Täve“ Schur. The "Course de la Paix," as the amateur race was also called, originally ran between Prague and Warsaw; in 1952 it reached East Berlin for the first time.
After the political change in 1989, the Friedensfahrt went into crisis, ending in 2006. But not for private collector Horst Schäfer. Just a year later, he opened the museum in Kleinmühlingen with the association "Radfreizeit, Radsportgeschichte und Friedensfahrt e. V." You can discover over a thousand exhibits there, including the Yellow Jersey from 1955, which Täve Schur, the first overall winner from East Germany, donated to the museum. Besides the exhibition, the association organizes regular events related to the Friedensfahrt and cycling.
