Description

In Gentil-Haus, built in 1923/24 as a house devoted solely to art, Anton Gentil crafted the interiors entirely by hand. You experience an intimate, dark atmosphere: heavy, perforated metal pendant lamps create a dramatic play of shadows and small, partly hand-painted windows produce painterly light.

Particularly worth seeing for you are the Lienzer Krippe mit fast 500 Figuren and the hidden Welte-Mignon-Philharmonie-Orgel mit 520 Pfeifen 🎵.

The collection ranges from medieval altar panels through East Asian sculpture to paintings and folk ceramics – many small discoveries for children. You can visit the house as part of a guided tour.

  • Nearly 2000 collected objects spanning around fifty years.

  • 22 different ceiling and wall lights, all designed by Gentil.

  • Unusual, immersive rooms: chapel, sleeping niches, and a reliquary room.
