Landesmuseum Bergbau - Standort Ridnaun

The Ridnaun site is a unique monument to the Industrial Revolution. Some 150 years ago, a state-of-the-art ore processing plant was built here. Massive machines crush and grind the rock, while large flotation basins bring the ore to the surface. Impressive inclined planes and horse-drawn tramways, the world's largest above-ground haulage system, carry loads up to the ore district in the high mountains. The Poschhaus Tunnel runs 6 km through the mountain into the Passeier Valley.
