Description

The Lechflößermuseum features a permanent exhibition that offers a historical overview of the timber rafting craft on the Lech River and life in the rafting village of Lechbruck am See. 🛶

Timber rafting on the Lech was once an important economic activity and the main livelihood of the village. It was considered the safest, fastest, and most affordable way to transport wood, raw materials, and goods to distant markets.

In 2022, the tradition of timber rafting was added to the international list of intangible cultural heritage.

In 2005, the museum was awarded the monument protection medal by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts—a special recognition of its importance.
