Lichtmess-Museum Glinde: Vom Tag, an dem das Licht zurückkehrt

Description
## Quick Summary
Every first Sunday in February, Lichtmess is celebrated in Glinde. This tradition has been going on for more than 600 years. A perfect reason to establish Germany's only Lichtmess Museum right here.
## Description
The Lichtmess Day on February 2 used to be an important Christian-Catholic holiday marking new beginnings. The days grew longer, the agricultural year started, and servants received their yearly wages. Until the liturgical reform of 1965, the Christmas season officially ended only on "Mariä Lichtmess."
In Glinde, it is the grand parade through the village that keeps the old custom alive. In the Christian tradition, Lichtmess celebrates the "Presentation of the Lord." This is taken seriously here, allowing only men—or women dressed as men—to present creative tableaux to the spectators along the streets.
At the museum, you will learn about the "Original Lichtmess Man" and the "Pea Straw Bear." The exhibition offers an exciting journey through Glinde’s Lichtmess history, and a small museum café invites you to enjoy coffee and cake.
