Description

LVR-Freilichtmuseum Kommern showcases how people lived and worked in the Rhineland through five historic building groups – here you can gain fascinating insights into everyday life in the past.

During the autumn holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia, a varied program with hands-on activities for children and families awaits you. A special highlight is "Rüben leuchten den Weg" ⛺: children craft their own lanterns from food turnips and enjoy a creative family event centered around the St. Martin’s procession.

The traditional St. Martin’s procession is celebrated like in the old village with a joint parade through four building groups, retelling the legend of Saint Martin.

"Advent für alle Sinne" invites you to a festive experience with a small Advent market and familiar activities spread across the museum.

In the spinning room, families can discover old craft traditions like spinning, darning, and knitting – a lively glimpse into the winter evenings of rural women from earlier times.
