Museumshof Colbitz: Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit der Heide

Description
## Short Description
Thousands of owl figures, rural history, and a touch of science: Museumshof Colbitz is a lively place full of surprises.
## Description
Beyond the stone archway begins a trip into the world of history and stories. At Museumshof Colbitz, you can discover Germany’s largest exhibition all about owls. More than 8,000 exhibits—from owl sculptures to jewelry and books to owl-shaped erasers—tell the story of the relationship between humans and the bird of wisdom.
The site, located in the oldest part of Colbitz, developed over the centuries into the four-sided farmstead of 1881. Rooms and workspaces furnished to match the original style along with agricultural tools show how people in the Heath region once lived, worked, and celebrated. One exhibition area is dedicated to the Colbitz scholar Johann Heinrich Schulze, who discovered the light sensitivity of silver salts in 1717, making a key contribution to the development of photography. To round off your visit, relax in the orchard with old native fruit varieties.
## Parking Information
