Schloss Hückeswagen
Description
Schloss Hückeswagen sits atop a 308-meter-high rock right in the city center, providing an impressive historic backdrop. Especially exciting for families is the bergfried, the Schelmenturm, which dates back to the early 13th century and fascinates with its medieval architecture and history.
On the grounds, there is a historically restored well that was carefully renovated in 2007 and invites exploration. The paths leading to the castle run through the beautiful “Schlosshagen,” a wooded area with trails that wonderfully combines nature and history – perfect for a relaxing family walk.
Opposite the castle is a rose garden that invites both children and adults to enjoy peaceful strolls and nature watching. Until 2018, a historic pavilion complemented this garden, adding to its special atmosphere.
The castle itself houses the city museum, offering cultural and educational experiences for the whole family.
