Description

Schloss Merseburg impresses with magnificent Renaissance architecture and has a rich history: It was a royal palace, a bishop's seat, and the residence of the Dukes of Saxony-Magdeburg.

In the courtyard, the Neptune Fountain from 1604–1605 draws all eyes, while the Castle Garden, part of Saxony-Anhalt's Garden Dreams, is a historic highlight for nature and garden lovers.

Families can gain fascinating insights at the Cultural History Museum: The permanent exhibitions showcase the baroque residence of the dukes, the development of Merseburg, as well as exquisite glass beads and ancient flint tools.

The outdoor grounds are freely accessible and invite you to explore and relax. Particularly exciting: parts of the castle served as a film set for Monuments Men starring George Clooney – experience a touch of Hollywood flair!
