KSI: Replacement of circulation pumps at Schwimmbad Nordstrand

Project duration: The work was carried out during the annual revision phase of Schwimmbad Nordstrand in January and February 2026.

Funding code: 67K31424

Project goals and details:

The municipality of Nordstrand replaced the circulation pumps in the exercise pool as well as the pumps of the whirlpool. The previous pumps had been in use for 25 to 35 years and operated approximately 345 days per year. The new pumps continue to fulfill the operational and water treatment requirements.

According to the planning calculation, the pump replacement is expected to save about 28,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year compared to previous pump operation. This is a projected value, not an already measured saving. Actual savings may vary depending on operation methods, pool usage, and operating hours.

The project only involves replacing the pump technology in the pool. It does not make any claims about overall environmental friendliness, climate neutrality, or sustainability of the pool.

55% of eligible expenses are funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

National Climate Protection Initiative

Since 2008, the federal government has initiated and supported numerous projects through the National Climate Protection Initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Its programs cover a wide range of climate protection activities: from developing long-term strategies to providing concrete support and investment funding. This diversity ensures good ideas. The Initiative promotes embedding climate protection at the local level, benefiting consumers as well as companies, municipalities, and educational institutions.
