Description

Stadtmuseum Bad Tölz takes you on exciting journeys through time with nearly 2,000 exhibits across 38 themed areas that bring history to life.

Discover traditional crafts like woodworking, clockmaking, pastry baking, and glassmaking. The history of the historic timber rafting trade down to the Black Sea and Tölz beer brewing are also fascinating.

On the second floor, you get to know the noble and citizen classes – from medieval castle life through Wittelsbach influences to hunting traditions and cultural highlights such as the marionette theater and music.

The history of the 20th century is experienced through multimedia stations covering the First and Second World Wars, the Weimar Republic, and National Socialism.

The third floor offers insights into customs, folk beliefs, leisure activities, and textile treasures, as well as classic and sacred sculptures and nativity scenes. Learn more about the Leonhardifahrt – an intangible cultural heritage of Germany – local personalities, and regional sports.

The museum is particularly proud of its collection of traditional Tölz costumes, vibrant testimonies of Bavarian culture.

In the music room, experience the region’s musical history with special instruments like the “Nonnengeige” and the introduction of brass band music. There are even interactive opportunities for anyone who wants to play music themselves.

The sports room is dedicated to regional sports like folding kayak racing and ice hockey – a boost of motivation for kids who want to get active in sports.

A visit to Stadtmuseum Bad Tölz is enhanced by numerous media stations and audio features, making the experience even more intense and varied. 🎭🏞
