Description

Stift Rein is the oldest continuously operating Cistercian monastery in the world, with an impressive 900-year history – an exciting place for families who want to experience history up close.

The special family visit is enhanced by daily guided tours at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, where children and adults learn a lot of interesting facts about the monastery.

From April to October, the monastery garden invites you every Sunday to relax in the green – a great opportunity to spend time together outdoors.

Highly recommended are the craft workshops like “Reiner Handwerk: Nativity Scene Building”, offering creative insights for older children and families.

For curious explorers, there are also special tours such as “The tunnel through Ulrichsberg: Water supply in the 12th century”, providing fascinating historical insights.

By appointment, the living library and archive of the monastery can also be used for study purposes.
