Urwelt-Museum Oberfranken

Urwelt-Museum Oberfranken takes you on a journey through millions of years of Earth's history – featuring an impressive dinosaur garden where giant dinos tower many meters high into the sky and invite you to marvel 🦕.

The permanent exhibition displays fascinating fossils from Upper Franconia, including rare minerals, dinosaurs, ichthyosaurs, and other captivating petrifications from the regional geology. A special highlight is the presentation of the fish lizard Eurhinosaurus mistelgauensis – complete with distinctive fossils and artistic representations of its life.

Interactive and hands-on guided tours, along with special educational programs, make the museum visit especially lively and engaging for children. Birthday parties and treasure hunts for the youngest visitors are also offered.

One highlight is the Gold Crystal exhibition, where you can experience how crystals form – by ions bonding at specific angles. This makes science something to touch and explore.
