Wildpark Eekholt

Since its founding in 1970 by Dr. h.c. Hans-Heinrich Hatlapa (deceased 2009) and his wife Theda Hatlapa, the Wildpark has been continuously developed into a nature experience and educational center. Its mission is to discover the beauty and diversity of nature together with children, teenagers, and adults, and in this way raise lasting awareness for environmental protection.

The Schleswig-Holstein state government recognized this work in 1999 by awarding the status of "Regional Educational Environmental Center": in August 2007, the Wildpark Eekholt nature experience center was then acknowledged as a "Sustainability Education Partner" and officially certified by Ute Erdsiek-Rave, Minister of Education and Women, as well as Dr. Christian v. Boetticher, Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Areas.
