Zoo Landau in der Pfalz

Experience over 900 exotic animals just a few minutes' walk from downtown Landau! Naturally designed enclosures, great views, and photo opportunities. Petting zoo, playground, organized birthday parties, holiday programs, and wonderful guided tours for all ages. Dogs are welcome.

At the zoo entrance, guests are greeted by dromedaries, which also feature in the logo of the popular Zoo Landau in der Pfalz. Along the 4.5-hectare tree-filled park path, you’ll meet crowd favorites like Siberian tigers, ring-tailed lemurs known from the movie “Madagascar,” meerkats, penguins, dwarf otters, zebras, and over 110 other animal species. Preserving endangered species is a key mission of modern zoos. The scientifically managed Zoo Landau participates in 28 coordinated breeding programs (EEP) and showcases very rare animals such as Sudan cheetahs, white-crowned mangabeys, red-vented cockatoos, Visayan warty pigs, and Prince Alfred deer. For the latter two “jewels of the Philippines,” a new, state-of-the-art enclosure was opened in autumn 2020. The lovingly created petting zoo, styled like an old Palatinate homestead, offers close contact with dwarf goats and sheep and is also home to mini pigs as well as rare breeds of rabbits and chickens. Visitors can also get very close to the animals in the walk-in aviaries for African and South American birds or the Bennett’s wallaby enclosure. The award-winning zoo school offers a fantastic year-round program, from exciting lessons and birthday parties to private guided tours and even bachelor parties. Once a month, the zoo management offers free Sunday tours, sometimes with behind-the-scenes views. You can also win an annual zoo membership by taking part in an exciting quiz about species conservation. The zoo team looks forward to your visit!
