Description

The Geigenbaumuseum showcases the impressive craftsmanship of violin making, spanning more than three centuries and closely connected to the history of Mittenwald.

Visitors can experience the history of violin making in a playful way – with audio and scent samples, historical films, and a workshop faithfully recreated to its original form.

There is a very special tour for children, designed especially for young explorers, taking them on an exciting discovery journey.

The museum also features a special exhibition on the history of oil shale mining in the Karwendel Mountains, including a replica of a mining tunnel – a fascinating experience for the whole family.

Rotating exhibitions of contemporary art explore the theme of traditional craftsmanship and present works by international artists as well as local schoolchildren, making the visit culturally rich and varied.
