Kaulbach-Villa
Description
The Kaulbach-Villa is more than a museum – it opens the doors to an impressive artistic heritage featuring nearly 300 paintings and oil sketches as well as around 1000 drawings.
In the originally preserved living quarters, you can explore the work and living environment of the painter Friedrich August von Kaulbach, including the studio with about 30 paintings and 25 drawings by Kaulbach himself as well as works by other artists like Franz von Lenbach.
The village museum of the villa offers families exciting insights into rural Upper Bavaria: historical tools, traditional costumes, and old bedrooms with a baby cradle – bringing history to life for children.
The collection also presents documents on Ohlstadt’s railway history, snowshoes, crucifixes, and wooden models of country houses, providing a diverse cultural overview.
The villa itself, a cultural monument built in the country house style in 1893 with a large garden, invites you to an inspiring family outing that combines art, history, and nature.
