Description

## Brief Description

A mysterious stone, ancient burial objects, and plenty of regional culture – Kreismuseum Jerichower Land invites you on a time travel through the landscape between the Elbe, Havel, and Fläming regions.

## Description

Anyone who has ever wanted to know how people lived in Jerichower Land over 12,000 years ago can find out at the Kreismuseum in Genthin. Spread across three floors, it takes visitors on a journey from the Stone Age to the 20th century. The centerpiece is the exhibit on prehistoric times. Tools made from bone, precious fibulae, clay vessels, a mammoth skull, and an urn with horse depictions shed light on this distant past.

The other parts of the exhibition tell the story of shipping and canal construction, daily life, education, and regional art from earlier centuries. In addition, there is a collection exploring the work of Chancellor Bismarck, who was born nearby in Schönhausen (Elbe). In the garden of the Art Nouveau villa, you will find Prussian postal milestones and the Runestone of Rogäsen. The granite block discovered in 1851 features mysterious engraved drawings whose origin and meaning remain unknown to this day.
