Description

At the Nadelmuseum in der Historischen Fabrikanlage Maste-Barendorf, you can experience the history of hair clip manufacturing up close 🎀. Original machines over 150 years old from 1881 are put into operation on special occasions, producing hair clips that you can take home with you.

At various media stations, memories of needle workers and factory owners tell exciting stories about ingenuity, technical skills, child labor, social challenges, and global trade.

In the brass foundry, you can watch the impressive brass casting process: liquid brass is shaped into buckles, fittings, and lamp parts at about 900 degrees Celsius.

The museum also shows how needle production is closely connected to the social history of Iserlohn – from labor struggles for better conditions to campaigns against child labor in the 19th century.

Important to know: The museum is usually closed from October to March, except during the Barendorf Christmas Event when the machines run again.
