Stadtmuseum Klausen
Description
The Stadtmuseum Klausen and its collections are housed in the former Capuchin monastery of Klausen, which goes back to a foundation by the Spanish queen Maria Anna (1667-1740). It also includes the unique Loreto Treasure, with precious individual pieces from across Europe. This rich treasure, donated by the Spanish royal court, contains ecclesiastical vestments, religious objects, textiles and ceramics, high-quality paintings and other works of art. Most of it comes from workshops of Italian, Spanish and Flemish artists of the 16th and 17th centuries. With special exhibitions, the museum gallery offers a varied program, and the tour of the museum also includes a visit to the baroque Capuchin church.
