Vacation at the North Sea

The island of Föhr lies at the heart of the unique Wadden Sea National Park. The beach of the North Sea spa town Strand Wyk auf Föhr offers breathtaking views of the island and Hallig landscape, providing both relaxation and plenty of fun. The fine sandy beach, nearly 4 km long and gently sloping, is perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, and playing. Thanks to its protected location behind the Halligen and neighboring islands, the water here remains especially calm.

High and Low Tide

The tides shape life on the North Sea. At high tide, you can dive into the waves, swim, or splash around, while low tide marks the start of the mudflat hiking adventure – a fascinating opportunity to explore the seabed and make exciting discoveries.

Family Beach

The beach is divided into different sections so everyone can find their perfect spot. There are designated non-smoking areas, dog beaches, a kite flying zone, and a nude beach. DLRG lifeguard stations and beach chair rentals are available along several beach sections. Barrier-free access allows easy paths to the water even for wheelchair users. Kids have a great time here – whether building sandcastles, playing on the playground, or jumping freely on trampolines. Plus, entertainment programs add extra fun.

Dog Beach

Wyk has a dedicated beach area for dogs where they can run around to their heart’s content and meet new four-legged friends. Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash on the beach.

Active Beach

If you’re looking for action alongside relaxation, this is the place for you. Beach volleyball courts, soccer and handball goals, surf schools, bungee trampolines, and other play equipment offer plenty of sporting variety. BBQ areas invite people to gather socially. For something special, you can join a beach gymnastics class or take a guided horseback ride along the beach.

The Beach Promenade in Wyk

The newly redesigned, over 3 km long, largely barrier-free beach promenade invites you to long walks with stunning views of the Halligen. From the south beach, you also get a view of the island of Amrum. If you feel like some shopping or a stroll in town after the beach, the nearby pedestrian area in Wyk’s center offers plenty of shops and cafés.
