Description

The DDR Museum Dresden invites you on an impressive journey into everyday life in the former East Germany. Spread across about 3,000 square meters, various exhibitions provide fascinating insights into life, fashion, children, shopping, vacations, leisure activities, and mobility of that era.

The museum presents daily life with all its objects and organizational forms without political glorification or nostalgia – creating a unique and educational perspective on life in East Germany.

Housed in an original socialist industrial building, the former VEB Kraftwerksanlagenbau, history is brought to life here. Artisan workshops, artist demonstrations, a DDR-themed shop, and a changing culinary experience complete the visit, making it a diverse experience.

The goal is to vividly preserve and share the lived history of East German citizens – not behind glass, but as a hands-on living museum. An exciting place that brings you closer to the everyday worlds of East Germany.
