Description

Haus der Natur invites you to a playful and child-friendly experience focused on environmental education. Exciting exhibitions revolve around the forest and the local nature, illustrated through games, audio stations featuring local legends, videos, and animations 🎨.

The historic building houses a cozy café that tells stories from the 18th century about life in the area – perfect for a relaxing break after exploring.

The outdoor area features a wild bee wall, part of an award-winning conservation project since 2018, which especially engages children in raising awareness about biodiversity. Additionally, a gold panning station opened in 2019 with a colorful program encourages participation in activities like herb walks, face painting, or juggling.

The rotating exhibitions, including the children's art show “Das große Krabbeln” created by elementary school kids, offer families a wonderful chance to explore local culture together.

With its diverse offerings, Haus der Natur is one of Thuringia’s most popular destinations and earned second place in visitor ratings in both 2023 and 2024.
