Description

At the Deutsches Werkzeugmuseum, you can experience the fascinating world of tools in Remscheid up close! Here you'll find hands-on exhibits where you can try out the tools and techniques yourself.

The permanent exhibition with 13 sections takes you on a journey through 500,000 years of tool history – from the Stone Age through the Middle Ages to the Industrial Revolution. Especially for children, there are exciting activity booklets and a special toolbox to explore the exhibition interactively.

  • A reconstructed medieval blast furnace shows how ores were melted in the past.

  • In the ergonomics area, you can test which tools fit best in your hand and promote healthy working.

  • An interactive highlight: strike like a traditional file maker in the rhythm of a slow waltz up to 200 times per minute!

  • Admire an original steam engine from 1884 from a Remscheid tool factory in action.
