Schiffbau- und Schifffahrtsmuseum Roßlau — ahoi Kapitän

## Short Description

The Schiffbau- und Schifffahrtsmuseum Roßlau presents the history of inland navigation on the Elbe and displays numerous photos, drawings, and model ships.

## Description

If you are passionate about inland navigation and model building, this is the perfect place for you. The shipyard Roßlau was the cradle of German steel shipbuilding and was once the largest inland shipyard in Europe. More than 3,200 ships were built here, including steamships, suction dredgers, tanker ships, stern trawlers, and icebreakers. Not only did steel shipbuilding begin here, but the eccentric-driven paddle wheel for paddle steamers was also developed here. The Schiffbau- und Schifffahrtsmuseum tells the story of these achievements through photos, drawings, models, and other exhibits.

The ship models especially captivate children, making the museum a great leisure destination for families.
