The Museum für Stadtgeschichte Dessau, founded in 1987 and housed in the Johannbau of the former Dessau residential palace, invites you on a fascinating journey of discovery. Here you will find the exhibition "Schauplatz vernünftiger Menschen… Kultur und Geschichte in Anhalt Dessau," which brings 800 years of city history to life. From medieval roots, through the magnificent residential palace, to revolutionary upheavals and industrial growth, you'll discover how significant figures shaped the region. The Bauhaus era and Hugo Junkers, who transformed Dessau into an industrial city, are also featured.

Regular special exhibitions, lectures, and events offer you the chance to explore individual aspects of history more deeply. Museum educational programs also make the visit especially family-friendly. Experience the richness of Dessau's history.

The Rathaus-Center is also nearby and has a parking garage.

## Arrival Information

From the B185/Ludwigshafener Straße, you can turn onto Askanische Straße from both directions. Then turn right onto Steinstraße, and you will reach Schloßplatz.

## Public Transportation

The tram from Dessau’s main station goes to the Bauhaus Museum. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Schloßplatz.

Buses also depart from the station. The nearest bus stop is at Mitteldeutsches Theater.
