Burgmuseum in Tangermünde: Das älteste Wohnhaus der Stadt

Description
## Short Description
The impressive castle towers high above Tangermünde, the city's landmark. You can learn all about its history in the small but charming Burgmuseum.
## Description
The two-story building Schloßfreiheit 5 is the oldest preserved residential house in Tangermünde, built around 1543 by the brothers Peter and Georg Krull. Since 1998, it has housed the Burgmuseum. The construction itself is special: while the ground floor was built with solid brickwork, the timber-framed upper floor dates from the 17th century.
Inside the mostly original interior, a permanent exhibition awaits you. It documents the history of the Tangermünde castle as the territorial lord’s residence and its prominence under Emperor Charles IV in the 14th century in four rooms. In addition, the development as a Brandenburg-Prussian office from the 16th to the 19th century is explained.
Insider tip: When leaving the museum, look out for the brick-built seating niche portal at the entrance. Two round medallions with bust reliefs of the two builders adorn the brackets.
